According to His Purpose

Have you ever read a scripture in the bible that made you smile? Well, Romans 8:28 is that verse for me. Whenever things look their bleakest in my life, I remember this verse. I quote it, I say it, I pray it, and I encourage myself in the Lord with it. If you are facing a difficult time, or struggling with something right now, this verse is for you. If you love God, then this promise was made for you. This is a promise from the heart of our Father, which means that it is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Whatever you are going through right now, whatever you have been through, know that God is going to work it out for your good. I heard Minister Louis Pollard say in a sermon, “If your situation isn’t good yet, then that just means God isn’t done yet”. Whenever I think of this, I can do nothing but rejoice! Think about it; it may not look good, feel good, or even seem like any good can come out of it, but God is still able to work that thing out for our good. We serve a God that can do exceedingly, abundantly above ALL that we could ever ask or think. This is what He promises in His word, and God NEVER breaks a promise. Stop looking at what you’re going through as a hindrance, and begin to see it as an opportunity for God, your Creator, to mold you, and shape you into who He has destined you to be. It is in our darkest times that we are able to draw the closest to Him. Read this verse again:

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.”    Romans 8:28 ESV

It doesn’t say that some things will get worked out. It doesn’t say it will work together if it’s all good stuff. It says that, “ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR GOOD”. I don’t know about you, but for me, this is an encouragement to my heart. There is nothing like feeling that your shortcomings will stop God’s plans for your life. I have felt like this in my own life on many different occasions, but what this scripture promises trumps every one of my false perceptions. Just looking back on my life’s choices, there have been times when I’ve thought, “There is absolutely NO WAY God can use this thing for something good”. Yet each time without fail, God has proven me wrong. That’s because God’s view is higher, and longer than anything we could ever think up.

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD. “And My ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so My ways are higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.”   Isaiah 55:8-9 NLT

He can see what we cannot, so when we make a mistake He already knows where it’s going to work out for our good. How encouraging is that?! We worry so much each day trying to figure out God’s plans, and instead of seeking Him for guidance we go to work concocting our own plans thinking we know what we’re doing. In all reality we don’t, and we make things worse by moving without God’s say so. We have to learn how to slow down, and let God be God. He created ALL of the Heavens and the Earth. He knows how it is all suppose to work and come together. When we trust Him with our circumstances, He will put us in a position to bless others through our story, our mess, our flaws, our making. Everything we go through, God will in some way allow it to help, and encourage someone else. But we have to first be willing to humble ourselves, seek His face, and allow Him to teach us and mature us in the necessary ways we need in order to overcome. This isn’t an easy process; it might hurt, we may cry, but it is all with great purpose. He knows what He is doing, so trust Him. Remember: For those who love God, all things will work for our good. Let Him love you, mold you, and strengthen you as you learn to love Him, and lean on Him in all of your needs and desires. Seek Him first in everything you do, and watch what He does in your life.

But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Matthew 6:33 (NASB)

I love you guys, and I am praying for you all! God Bless!!!
